Dr Bongani Andy Mabaso to join Altron as Group Chief Technology Officer

Altron, the 58-year-old leading South African technology group, has announced that Dr Bongani Andy Mabaso will join as Group Chief Technology Officer to drive its transformative growth strategy. Mabaso, a qualified engineer, was previously the Chief Executive Officer of the State Information Technology Agency.
Before that, he held the role of Chief Information Officer: Digital and Customer Journeys at Standard Bank (Corporate and Investment Banking). Mabaso also spent over a decade at Transnet Engineering, where he worked as a senior engineer, a principal engineer responsible for software design, and finally, the executive research manager.
A key aspect of Mabaso's role will be executing Altron's transformative growth strategy, focusing on artificial intelligence and data analytics, and expanding the Group's platform ecosystem.

Mabaso will lead Altron's Group-wide technology function and the product design and innovation strategy to bolster existing revenue streams and create new ones.
These strategic developments will enable Altron to deliver new and continually relevant technology solutions to the South African market and beyond.
Mabaso has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Cape Town, a Master of Philosophy from the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Pretoria.
