Altron Nexus donates radio equipment to Limpopo government for use in pandemic
6 April, 2020
Altron Nexus, a subsidiary of JSE-listed technology company Altron, has donated 32 two-way radio handsets to the Limpopo Provincial Government to boost communications during the coronavirus pandemic.
The two-way radios enable fast communication at a push of a single button without having to dial – saving time during disaster management. The single push button connects a call within 1.8 milliseconds and can broadcast to different groups of people simultaneously. The Limpopo districts will use the two-way radios to report into the Provincial Disaster Centre during the lockdown and beyond.|
Altron Nexus has a national narrowband network which will support the two-way radio communications in Limpopo.
The donation was made to the CEO of Limpopo Connexion, Baldwin Ramasobane, this morning by Altron Nexus MD, Mark Harris. Limpopo Province Premier, Stanley Mathabatha, attended the ceremony.
“As Altron we are in support of measures driven by the government to curb the spread of the coronavirus. In times of a disaster, every second counts, so it’s critical to have a reliable and fast communications network. In offering these radios to the province, we hope they contribute in the fight to keep our people safe,” said Managing Director of Altron Nexus, Mark Harris.
Altron Nexus specialises in the provision of broadband and narrowband technology infrastructure across South Africa.
